WISCONSIN GOLF ACADEMY

What my students say

The lessons given by Paul are excellent! Paul doesn’t hand you a golf club and tell you to start swinging. Rather he walks you through the basics in a classroom setting, demonstrating key points with videos of professional golfers as well as his own personal demonstrations. This is then followed by an opportunity for you to try out what he has taught that day. His training style is so much more effective than what I’ve experienced in the past. I never expected to receive such professional training in this environment. Paul put more time into our class than what the class description defined. In fact, he telephoned each of us and offered to come in early for the last class to ensure we were comfortable with what we’ve learned. Kudos to him for taking the time out of his busy schedule to do that! I’ve learned so much from Paul’s training and am looking forward to putting my learning into action on the golf course. I would definitely recommend Paul’s classes to anyone interested in learning the game of golf. They will definitely be pleased with the results.

My daughter Rachel has worked with Paul for the past couple of years. After learning the basics from others and showing promise, we were looking for the right person to get Rachel to the next level. All Rachel ended up doing after her first full season with Paul was win the Wisconsin PGA Junior Player of the Year, finish 3rd at State, and verbally commit to play D-1 golf at Central Michigan after she graduates. What Paul brings in knowledge of the golf swing, he exceeds with his caring and support for the complete athlete and person.

"Even before I officially began taking lessons with Coach Paul, he saw great potential in my abilities as a golfer and an athlete at a time when I struggled to believe in myself. Ever since, he has allowed me to grow as a person both on and off the course by helping me understand the importance of mental strength, teaching me how to effectively practice, and showing me that, with hard work, dedication, and confidence, I can accomplish anything I set my mind to."

We have 2 grandchildren ages 11 and 13. With the exception of miniature golf, they did not golf before their lessons with Paul. He started with basic swings, stances, and attitudes. Paul has a very positive philosophy in teaching kids and adults. The kids learned how to stand, grip the club, address the ball, bend, swing, and follow-through. This was in the first several lessons and each week they learned a new skill to add to the previous lesson. The atmosphere is very relaxed with many positive sayings, words, and funny quips. Paul has the latest equipment and videos to reinforce the learning process. We are at the lessons each week and watch the instruction with them. We have seen the kids grow in skill and confidence and they always ask how long until the next lesson.

I have been taking lessons from Paul Mindel for three years. I was 68 years old when I first met Paul. My handicap was 15 and I felt like I couldn’t get any better. I told Paul I wanted to get to a single digit index and consistently shoot in the mid to upper 70’s. Today my index is at 9 and I feel like I will continue to get better.

Thanks for the great club fitting I received from you and the Taylor Made rep. While I wasn’t planning to replace everything in my bag, I’m glad I did. The M2s I purchased that day have helped me improve my game more than I thought possible. After I got used to hitting clubs substantially farther and quite a bit straighter than I was used to, I had a memorable golfing year. My handicap has gone down several strokes (I’m now breaking 80 with regularity), won the long drive contest at the club, and made my 1st hole in one.

Our two oldest boys (8 & 9) started taking golf lessons from Coach Paul this fall thru the Rec Department in Germantown. Coach Paul is a very kind and knowledgeable man. He has taught the boys how to hold their stance and club appropriately and has taught them safety on the green to protect themselves and others. My husband and I are so impressed with how thorough he is in all applications. Maybe the most important lesson for us adults in the class is to ALWAYS keep our words to our children positive and uplifting. Instead of saying, “don’t do that” we need to say, “this is what TO do”. A very good lesson for us all! Thank you Coach, for all you’ve taught us this far!

Thanks for your work with Marty over the past season. Marty had been a decent high school golfer but thanks to your help, patience, and teaching he really blossomed into a great young golfer. I believe that without your teaching, he and the team would not have made it to the state this year. I can and will highly recommend you to anyone looking to take golf lessons, especially with young golfer. All your work is greatly appreciated.

I am a life long golfer whose best years were during high school and college and since then I get out about 10 times a year and my handicap has never deviated much from about 8 to 9. I have never had a lesson in my life until last year when I went to Wisconsin Golf Academy. After a brief review of my game Paul and I decided that it would make sense to work on my short game first. I always thought I had a pretty good short game but he quickly transformed how I approached and hit all my short game shots. Most importantly he taught me how to think and practice. Within months my short game quickly became the best part of my game. We then turned our attention to my putting game. With just two lessons my putting game got significantly better. Since my first lesson I have played almost 20 rounds and my handicap index has gone from an 8.2 to a 4.8 and dropping! Cannot recommend Paul as an instructor highly enough!
