Parts of the following were from a discussion I had with Tyler Morse (President of the Club at Lac La Belle) 

As many you are aware much of my summers growing up were spent at Lac La Belle Country Club in Oconomowoc.  Beginning at age 10 I lived on the 15^th tee and have very fond memories on the club.  I knew very little about its history.  La Belle’s historical figures include some of the most well-known professional golfers in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s (including winning the U.S. Open 6 times).   I assume no other club in the country has such a rich pedigree.  Within the last 10 years the club went nearly bankrupt and clearly on life support, until now.  Please follow the link to learn about its history and “The rebirth/recreation of this legend”.  Very little of the old course remains intact but in 1 word the redo is “Spectacular”.   I have been fortunate to play there twice since its opening.  I have made this remark to several clients and other golfers, “If the new owners get a break with the weather this will be a top 15 course in Wisconsin in 2 years”.  From that point on I can only imagine it will get better and better in years to come.  The course is still under construction with more improvements to follow.  That being said, “Please look past the work being done and look toward the future of what La Belle will become”.

The club includes one of the best driving ranges I have seen with at least 2 short game areas with attached putting greens and greenside bunkers.  A third 100 yard pitching area is planned on the interior of the course.  A no charge 18 hole putting course sits adjacent to the east end of the clubhouse and the 18^th green.  All 18 greens have been built to USGA specifications and a completely new irrigation system has been installed. The drainage issue of the past has been solved with pumps and a “positive drainage system” built into all fairways.

The clubhouse also went through a complete redo.  The pro shop now sits on the west side overlooking the new holes 1 to 4 and the most difficult finishing hole.

The memories I have will always be part of me.  But the memories that are yet to come will be just as, “PARFECT”
